This month's local artist is: Bryon Malik

To be black, young, and gifted… he is artist, photographer Bryon Malik! After discovering his talent in Southern California, Bryon returned to his roots in Oakland to capture the beauty this city beholds. Born and raised here, Bryon began pursuing a love for music while at Oakland High, but transformed his passion into photography. Over the years, Bryon has photographed an array of subjects, expressing his urban, edgy style. His work is hip, chic, erotic and natural. Bryon’s eyes continue to capture the spirit, soul and psyche of those who dare to be photographed. But mostly, his creativity is inspired by happiness, love, peace and joy…all captured in the beauty and strength of people.

Bryon has said that photography takes a considerable amount of time, courage, faith, and risk to gain the confidence to be himself. Malik’s understanding of his clients contributes significantly to the success of his photographs. He sets no boundaries, allowing his clients to express themselves freely.
